We are delighted to announce that Derek Wilson is our newly elected vice chairman and here he shares a bit more info about himself…
Derek says “I feel very honoured to have been asked and will do my upmost best in the coming years.
My background has always been in agriculture in some form as I was born and brought up on a mixed Dairy, Beef, and sheep farm near Cartmel, South Cumbria.
I moved and settled in the Penrith area in 1991, when starting work for MMB/Genus and my links to agricultural shows started with my family’s involvement with Cartmel show, helping to set up and take down sheep pens and cattle lines was an annual event. In more recent years I’ve helped out at the Westmorland show as a cattle steward.
More recently my wife and I purchased a few acres along with a building plot in 2018 on the fringes of Skelton, in 2020 our new home was ready to move into and our closer association to Skelton and the show started!
We love Skelton and are extremely happy and content living here with the family. Skelton show is arguably the best show in the county and along with the fabulous hard-working committee not to mention our new chairperson Nina Oxley at the helm, I feel excited to be able to help and play a small part in the show’s future.”
Congratulations Derek ?
